This is to report about a new email that is floating around the Internet attempting to get windows users to “download a patch” from Microsoft for Outlook and Outlook Express. The subject line reads “Update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express (KB910721)”.
Microsoft never sends out emails to have you apply updates or patches. Your computer either is set to automatically download updates or you must visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to receive the updates.
The link in the email looks just like a legitimate Microsoft link but in fact takes you to a site that encourages you to install a Trojan program that may capture your log-in information as well as keystrokes.
If you have already clicked on the link in the email and downloaded the so called update, you need to immediately be sure your Anti-Virus software is up to date and do a full scan of your computer to remove the virus.
If you have not clicked the link then delete the email and tell all your friends to do the same.
